Job
Company Overview:

TicTalking.com is a company that has developed a leading edge social platform designed to connect people globally through common interests and shared passions. Social Media was built on 'who you know'; the next wave of social media is based on topics of interest, known as the "Interest Graph".

Job Summary:

Web Developer with HTML5 Canvas, WebGL, and associated JavaScript libraries

Are you a code ninja? Do you love the Internet? Are you passionate about social networking and high quality web based systems? Do you want to be part of a team dedicated to creating a social network aimed at connecting people across vast distances, based on common interests and concerns? If your answer is yes to any of the above, read on.

Tictalking Holdings Inc. is a start-up based out of Victoria BC, whose goal is to create a kick-ass social network that brings people together over things in common (TIC). We have just finished our base implementation of the site (TicTalking.com) and have a comprehensive vision for the site over the next year.

If this sounds good to you, we want to pay you for being amazing. You will receive competitive pay and benefits, get to work with a great team, and be rewarded for your efforts.

Job Summary:
Tictalking requires the implementation of a number of sophisticated front end mechanisms that harness the power of HTML 5 Canvas, WebGL, and associated technologies. The use of other external JavaScript libraries such as Three.js and the pending famo.us are most likely.

Tictalking uses a Rails 3.x web architecture with nosql MongoDB instances. A number of supporting gems (rails libraries) and JavaScript libraries are also currently used.

There are a number of components that must be planned, created, tested, deployed, and eventually maintained. Because this work requires unique skills, Tictalking is willing to consider different employment options including part-time, full-time, or contract. We are however, ideally looking for a local resource that is capable of working on site in Victoria BC.

Requirements:

  • Impeccable communication skills—verbal and written.
  • Experience in a team-based environment.
  • Familiarity with modern web browsers
  • Familiarity with Mac and Windows.
  • Minimum of two years web based programming – preferably using the Linux stack.

The successful candidate will have experience with HTML's Canvas element, WebGL, OpenGL ES 2.0, and associated JavaScript libraries and tools.

A number of other technologies are used at TicTalking. Many of them will not apply to or effect the candidate’s skill set. However, knowledge in some of these areas will be required: Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, JQuery, AJAX, PJAX, HAML, MongoDB, Bootstrap, Modernizr, memcache, Redis, RSpec, Heroku, and Git, Continuous Integration.
Compensation:

Commensurate with experience; will range from $50K - $100K per annum. We offer a comprehensive medical and dental plan as well for full-time employees.

This job is in Victoria, British Columbia. Working from a remote location is not preferred.
