Job Summary: 


As a member of the IT management team, leads the SAP business team in the design and development of ERP business solutions that drive effective, transparent and accountable corporate financial, operational and administrative systems that align, enable and support IT strategies and CRD strategic objectives.

Key Accountabilities/Position Outcomes:

  • Engages the organization in the implementation of the identified corporate vision for SAP alignment that leverages the system to take full advantage of business driven functionalities and related technologies to support CRD business objectives
  • Analyzes strategic business issues, challenges and opportunities, ensuring solutions align with corporate business objectives and with overall IT direction and strategy
  • Manages agreed business requirements through the systems development lifecycle (system analysis, detailed design, build, integration, testing)
  • Ensures appropriate system documentation is created including, but not limited to; business processes, systems requirements, configuration, procedures, and training.
  • Maintains a strategic perspective, incorporating and integrating the interests of stakeholders with broader organizational objectives to ensure divisional and corporate needs are aligned and balanced.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships between IT and key ERP user groups; Payroll, Finance, Human Resources, Engineering Services and Integrated Water Services to ensure corporate and divisional objectives are well coordinated and integrated into business system design and development
  • Uses strong leadership, coaching and employee development skills to create a highly competent and engaged team of professionals and staff with the knowledge, skills and abilities to deliver on current operational priorities and to identify and address future needs.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science plus 10 years’ progressively responsible experience in Information Technology leadership roles including a minimum of 5 years of SAP project management experience with 3-5 SAP project lifecycles from scoping to post go-live support; plus a minimum of 5 years technical supervisor/manager experience in a large IT department successfully executing projects that enhance the business.

Role specific knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Proven ability to design and implement SAP software solutions with general knowledge of available architectures and their strengths and weaknesses, ability to model and document business systems.
  • Ability to incorporate knowledge of financial management and control, business process improvement practices, information technology and general management practices when making recommendations.
  • Extensive experience liaising with Application Development Managers, Systems Analysts, Business Analysts, Project Managers, and End Users.
  • Thorough knowledge of IT project management techniques, software methodologies and development life cycle and system architecture, design and implementation.
  • Experience providing technical support for IT developed business applications.
  • Able to identify key client process and technology issues and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques and best practices.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
  • Valid BC Driver’s license required.
