Reliable Controls is a high tech electronics manufacturing and design company that specializes in producing building automation controls equipment and software. Headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia, the 100 people of Reliable Controls design, manufacture, and support our products that are sold all over the world. Our new LEED platinum green building in View Royal is one of the best work environments anywhere. The tech support team is 10 people strong, there are 2 primary support staff, and 8 additional secondary support people.

Our products are internet connected and rely on networking with each other, and to third party products to form a complete system. As a result many IT based networking problems result and require support to resolve. We currently have a full-time position available for Technical Support. This position is suited to someone who enjoys talking on the phone with trained installers, programmers, and end users to resolve problems with connection, setup, and application of our products. We will train you to be a product expert on our product line, so that you can provide all levels of support to our customers.

Job Summary: 

If you are a technical person and like helping people make technology work, we have an opening for a full time IT technical support specialist.


  • To service our dealer network, mostly on the phone, and through e-mail
  • To fully understand the Reliable Controls product line, including software and hardware products. To use this knowledge to help people less educated on the products.
  • Support internet connectivity setup issues, creation of WAN’s with routers and Reliable’s IP based products.
  • To work with internal technical staff to identify potential product issues.
  • Troubleshoot problems by replicating, visualizing and analyzing each problem.
  • Maintain a database of support issues.
  • To help with test and verification of firmware and software.
  • To understand the application of the software so that all elements of the application can be properly tested.


  • Communication skills, listening, patience, and understanding of customer’s needs and problems.
  • Strong software and computing background is necessary.
  • Understanding of IP networks and networking technologies.
  • Ability to accurately log, track and manage support calls.
  • Strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Background in electronics, HVAC controls, or IT
