The Operations Management Team requires a strong and enthusiastic leader to fill the role of Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

The mission of the team is threefold:

  • Serve customer demand
  • Support new product introduction
  • Continuously improve quality and operational efficiency

This position is accountable for managing the manufacturing operations for a variety of products and/or services. Oversees the implementation of manufacturing schedules, personnel requirements, quality control, production standards and safety programs. Develops manufacturing strategies to provide quality/profitable products that meet customer need and distribution schedules. Leads and coordinates the implementation of programs which support these manufacturing strategies

The Manufacturing Engineering manager will lead a team of 15 engineers and technicians with three key responsibilities:

  • The design, development and continuous improvement of automated and manual manufacturing processes
  • The design, development and optimization of specialized automated test equipment and supporting database / ERP system integration
  • Ongoing support and maintenance of automated equipment and the supporting IT infrastructure

In addition to working with the Operations Management Team, the Manufacturing Engineering manager will work closely with Design Engineering, Finance, Purchasing and Marketing.

Responsibilities & Key Tasks:

  • Set the vision and direction for the Manufacturing Engineering team in alignment with the overall Operations vision and objectives
  • Support Engineering and Industrialization functions with the implementation new products at specified cost, quality and capacity
  • Support and participate on interdisciplinary new product development teams
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to improve the quality, responsiveness and efficiency of the manufacturing plant per the Schneider Production System (SPS)
  • Manage the implementation of customer driven customization requests
  • Minimize against plant downtime through scheduled maintenance and timely response
    • Participates in the development and documentation of the manufacturing strategic plan.
    • Identifies specific strategic and tactical opportunities for significantly improving the competitiveness and productivity of manufacturing operations.
    • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop staff to ensure their work meets established targets and standards.
    • Assembles and manages implementation teams for execution of approved projects.
  • Evaluate the recommendations of engineers to ensure they are accurate and consistent with the organization’s short-term production plans.
  • Coordinates projects and strategies with other functional areas.
  • Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules.
  • Implement Schneider Production System (SPS) across the Plant
  • Use Lean methodology and change management to support SPS project from implementation thru execution

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven ability to lead a large team, manage competing demands and facilitate interdepartmental cooperation
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing
  • Experience with Lean, six-sigma, kaizen, PFMEA, DFMEA, Short Interval Management, Line Architecture Design Methodology
  • Expertise with ERP/MRP systems
  • Experience with shop-floor data collection systems
  • Proven experience with new product introductions
  • Experience with project management
  • Understanding of supply chain operations
  • Engineering degree in industrial engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years experience in manufacturing and in engineering management
  • Undergraduate degree - 3 years
