Job Summary: 

Web Developer - FULL TIME – 6 Months Minimum ( Victoria, BC )

This position is being funded by a federal government youth employment program. To be considered for the job, candidates must meet the following eligibility crite. Canadian Citizen, Full Time Resident of Canada, Recent Graduate and under the age of 30

Job Summary:
The position is based in North Saanich, BC, about 30 minutes from sunny Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island. This is a 35 – 40 hour a week full time position requiring 3 to 4 days a week on site and daily contact with our managing developer. This is an exciting and challenging project being developed by a small highly motivated and skilled group. The right applicant will demonstrate a high level of commitment to achieving excellence and will love working creatively.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient code using best software development practices
  • Assist in creating site layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS best practices
  • Optimize and refine specifications and requirements for competitive end result
  • Create and maintain documentation
  • Capable of maintaining, expanding and scaling site.
  • Cooperate with web designer to match visual design intent
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
  • Task and personal time management

Candidate′s Profile should include:

  • Two to five years of real world experience in web programming or equivalent
  • Knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
  • WordPress , PHP, Javascript, SQL, JSON , Ajax
  • Familiarity with Mercurial Version Control an asset
  • A solid understanding of web security
  • Adequate knowledge of relational database systems
  • Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization processes
  • Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills
  • Capable of managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Superior attention to detail.

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with skills and experience.
