Job Summary: 


The primary purpose of the Supplier Quality Engineer role is to develop and implement a supplier approval process, supplier performance and control system, as well as maintaining an accurate register of approved suppliers. The SQE is also accountable for maintaining up-to-date the supplier manual, managing the supplier corrective action system, performing supplier’s audits, and manage supplier authorization process.


  • Working as part of a team of SQEs
  • Provides day to day technical assistance and support to production and supply chain staff related to suppliers control process.
  • Maintains a Supplier/Subcontractor Qualification and Evaluation program;
  • Implements and monitors certification program for supplier Delegations;
  • Ensures supplier compliance with Viking production specifications, Viking’s Quality Program and regulatory requirements. Conducts supplier compliance audits. Reviews and ensures accuracy of all externally generated quality related documentation/records;
  • Liaisons with Viking departments as required to ensure that all Supplier quality issues are promptly actioned and root casual analysis addressed;
  • Develop, implement, and report on supplier performance metrics and objectives including - On Time Delivery, # of Corrective Actions (i.e. Scoring system);
  • Work with key suppliers on continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives and programs, maintain/up keep/record on supplier quality initiatives;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager or Manager, Quality Engineering.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering OR post-secondary education in a related discipline OR acceptable combination of education and experience;
  • Experience in logistics/ measuring /monitoring a manufacturing supply chain;
  • Experience with quality assessments including prior audit experience to AS9100 or ISO9001 requirements is an asset;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage conflicts;
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimum of supervision and direction;
  • Good problem solving skills and techniques, ability to read and understand technical drawings;
  • Good knowledge of statistical techniques and data analysis used in all phases of metrology is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, or similar software;
  • Experience with Enterprise or Material Resource Planning software (i.e., Visual Manufacturing) is an asset;
  • Accreditation as a Certified Quality Engineer is an asset.
