BC Assessment has a unique and exciting opening for a Manager, Technology Services to join its team in Victoria, British Columbia.

As our new Manager, Technology Services, you will manage the day to day delivery of information and communication technology (ICT) services to sustain and maintain BC Assessment’s business operations through the effective management of database and data services, application systems, GIS services, and infrastructure services.

As well, you will be responsible for ensuring the day to day protection and security of BC Assessment data and information as well as ensuring that all operational processes are effective and conform to industry best practices and BC Assessment’s IMIT policies.

You will participate in defining the strategic direction for Services Delivery and be integral in the implementation of long term IMIT plans and the future direction of corporate information, technology and solution architectures.

During the first year, you can expect to be involved in the following:

Workstation Refresh project
Lead technical resource responsible for the RFP to replace/renew the managed Network provider (currently Telus)
Implement and support the ongoing technical infrastructure including the NextGeneration valueBC project to replace the core line of business CAMA (computer assisted mass appraisal) tool.

This position calls for a true leader who will be able to adapt to new and changing situations, generate creative innovative approaches and demonstrate good judgement in critical decision making.

Education

A university degree in information management and information technology, computer science/engineering

Experience

  • Extensive related experience demonstrating progressive levels of application and database operations in a complex information technology environment.
  • Extensive related experience demonstrating progressive levels of operations management in a complex information and communications technology environment.
  • Success working in a customer-focused environment in the delivery of operational ICT services and support.
  • Significant experience in project management.

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • This position is exempt from the bargaining unit.
