Job Summary: 

Latitude Technologies, headquartered in Victoria, BC, is looking for an experienced production engineer to step into the position of Production Manager. Reporting to our President, the successful candidate will have full responsibility for Latitude’s production activities.

Summary of Job Position:
You will be responsible for planning, coordination, and control of all aspects of manufacturing and distribution. This includes the timely, cost-effective, and quality manufacture of Latitude-designed avionics equipment; the timely and cost-effective procurement of manufacturing parts and third-party finished goods; on-time fulfillment of all customer product orders; and efficient processing and problem resolution for all customer product returns and product refurbishments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the scheduling, assembly, and testing for all Latitude manufactured products and final assembly and testing of third-party finished goods
  • Maintaining documentation of manufacturing processes, ensuring that all processes are trackable, efficient, and cost effective
  • Ensuring that manufactured products meet or exceed company quality standards
  • Managing the processing and satisfactory repair of all defective products
  • Managing the processing and satisfactory refurbishment of products requiring refurbishment
  • Managing procurement of production parts and finished goods within company standards, guidelines, and budgets
  • Hiring, training, and supervising production team members
  • Maintaining all manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution facilities in first-class condition, consistent with company standards and guidelines
  • Fulfilling all assigned roles and responsibilities, as set out above and as maybe assigned in future, in accordance with Latitude's Transport Canada approved Quality Program Manual, approved Maintenance Policy Manual, and documents incorporated therein by reference
  • Preparing and managing production expense budgets and procurement budgets
  • Procuring and maintaining manufacturing and production test equipment
  • Manufacturing of test jigs following design documentation and bills of materials prepared and approved by the engineering department
  • Working collaboratively with the engineering team in new product documentation and manufacturing processes
  • Maintaining positive relationships with company suppliers, channel partners, distributors, resellers, and end customers


  • Engineer or Science Degree or Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent skills and experience
  • Minimum of five years career success in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of two years hands-on management experience in a fast-paced, deadline centric manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kanban work flow methods, manufacturing resource planning (MRP) programs, and test automation
  • Knowledge of Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) sections 561 (manufacturing), 573 (maintenance), and 573.10 (Person Responsible for Maintenance); specifically to act as liaison between Latitude and Transport Canada regarding manufacturing, maintenance, and related matters
  • Avionics or aviation industry experience is an asset

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong technical skills with respect to circuit board assembly, inspection and diagnostic test methods, and the ability to coach and mentor these same skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple and concurrent tasks
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Strong customer relationship skills
  • Excellent English speaking, writing, and grammatical skills
