Job Summary: 

Working under one of our senior developers, you will be responsible for front-end web application development for one of our major industrial sensing contracts. This involves querying, visualizing, and helping our users analyze data from a large database.

You will be responsible for:

  • Continued development of the web front end
  • Real-time visualization of data gathered from our custom built remote sensing platform
  • UX design and responding to client feedback
  • Unit testing and code review
  • Charting new possibilities for development and recommending them for future project roadmap enhancements 

Key Competencies:

  • Javascript (Python optional)
  • Web technologies :: HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, twitter-bootstrap
    Server-side Javascript (node, express, mongoose, jade)
    Information and GIS visualization (D3.js, Leaflet)
  • UX and UI techniques
  • NoSQL databases – MongoDB (redis optional)
  • Operations :: Cloud deployment and management (AWS, Rackspace)
    Linux and OSX experience
  • Test-driven development (Mocha optional)
  • Ability to thrive in an R&D environment with many unknowns
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A sense of humour


  • 2-3 years of Engineering or Computer Science professional experience
  • 3 years combined programming experience in JavaScript and Python (other languages welcome)
  • Demonstrable open-source development experience is an asset and counts towards your work experience


  • Bachelor of Computer or Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Alternative degrees are welcome, if you can demonstrate knowledge of Computer Science principles and concepts
