Sales and Marketing
Job Specialization:
Marketing and Communications
Company Overview:

Hundreds of organizations around the world rely on Geocortex software by Latitude Geographics to design, develop and maintain web-based mapping applications. We believe geographic information over the web can empower people to make better decisions about their lives, society and the world around us. You can help us make a difference.

Job Summary:

Do you have a passion for technology? Are you highly organized and adept at rolling up your sleeves and managing logistics? Do you have a talent for simplifying complex ideas without losing what’s essential? If so, you could be our Marketing Specialist.

This is a junior-to-midlevel role; you will be joining a small Marketing team that is – in many ways – solidifying its foundations (with big plans!), while balancing the demands of a well-established and recognized business. We will count on you to work closely with our Sales, Marketing, and Administrative teams to make things happen. While you will have the opportunity to support our marketing strategy, it will be your meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, ability to form and maintain relationships effortlessly, comfort with ambiguity, and dedication to moving things along in a fast-paced environment that will be called upon regularly.

It’s important to emphasize the events focus of this role, as situations will arise that will require your immediate attention. Last year we attended and organized over ninety events – from large scale conferences, to intimate user groups, to sales-focused tradeshows – and you will be expected to help ensure everything runs smoothly for presenters and attendees. You’ll manage schedules, facilities, presentation materials, flights, and anything else that happens to pop up (surprises at the 11th hour aren’t uncommon). Your ability to remain calm and collected will be critical. Events can be onsite, offsite, or online.

If everything you’ve read above resonates with you and you’re up for the challenge, let’s talk.

  • Developing a thorough understanding of our technology and the value it provides
  • Synthesizing your technical understanding and reflecting on possible positioning so you can help determine what’s most important to existing and prospective customers
  • Writing clear, concise prose that gets the message across. You’ll need to write it; you’ll need to be able to get it from others
  • System/process implementation and maintenance (ensuring content for sales people; PowerPoint, proposal text, supporting materials that are curated and updated over time)
  • Contributing as a flexible member of Latitude’s Marketing team: as a coordinator, writer, editor, researcher and community manager

  • Booking, organizing and coordinating trade shows, seminars, conferences including pre- and post-show activities
  • Assisting with the organization and facilitation of the annual Geocortex Partner Conference and User Conference
  • Ordering, sourcing, and distributing materials needed to execute conference participation
  • Keeping track of booth materials and other mobile assets – you will always know where things are when asked
  • Tracking event expenditures
  • Directing the distribution of show materials
  • Coordinating schedules with event attendees and assisting with travel arrangements
  • Compiling leads received from various sources and providing analysis and recommendations for continuous improvement

  • Outstanding attention to detail (critical in this role)
  • Superb writing and editing skills. You must be able to communicate concepts and ideas clearly and effectively
  • A demonstrated ability to manage resources and timelines
  • Ability to synthesize, strategize, and execute good judgment
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills
  • Familiarity with CRM software (Salesforce preferred), software industry experience, and a technical background are all assets
  • Strong creative and visual design sensibilities
  • Strong PC-based skills, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word
  • Understanding of geographic information systems and web-based mapping is desirable
