Job Summary: 

BC Assessment is now searching for a dynamic person to join its team as a Senior GIS Analyst.

In this important role, you will design, develop and execute the BC Assessment spatial data model and assessment fabric to support real property valuation through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Mass Appraisal Systems (i.e. ValueBC) and Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).

You will also analyse BC Assessment business challenges and develop, design, deliver, and maintain Geographic Information System (GIS) products and services in support of the business activities of BC Assessment such as the establishment and maintenance of uniform real property assessments throughout British Columbia.

You will also lead and coordinate project teams including the development of project charters, coordination of staff resources, preparation of project reports and evaluation of project outcomes.

Finally, you will display your attention to detail by carrying out work to precise and established standards of accuracy and will be able to prioritize work coming from multiple clients.

In the first year, you can look forward to:
Supervising and leading the team of GIS Analysts to delivery high-quality GIS support services;
Coordinating the Desktop Review process, including management of contracts for the acquisition of aerial and street front imagery; Improving GIS support and driving GIS innovation at BC Assessment.

Education:

  • A post-secondary diploma in GIS technology or a related field.
  • Preferred – Degree in Geography, Information Technology or Environmental Science (must also have technical background).

Experience:

  • 4 years of experience working in the GIS field.
  • Business analysis and project management experience is required.
  • Leading project teams and supervising staff.

  • This position is included in the Bargaining Unit.
