Job Summary: 

We are seeking a motivated individual interested in a professional accounting career. Candidate will have a mature and professional demeanour and will feel comfortable and confident dealing with individuals at all levels in the organization. He or she will be a critical thinker who is able to work effectively as a team member or independently on financial projects.

In this role, the accountant will report directly to the VP of Finance and will be responsible for all routine accounting functions at Archipelago. The Intermediate Accountant will provide guidance to other members of the finance team and will be responsible for accurate and timely completion of the monthly accounting cycle and associated reporting. This position requires significant amounts of hands-on transactional accounting work; as such this position requires someone who offers meticulous attention to detail and exceptional accuracy.


  • Prepare, examine and analyze accounting records for local and foreign operations
  • Prepare monthly and yearend account reconciliations
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements
  • Prepare statutory remittances
  • Prepare periodic client billings
  • Monitor and maintain budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor bank account balances and foreign exchange transactions
  • Process and reconcile all corporate bank account and visa transactions
  • Process expense claims, accounts payables and receivables, and GL entries
  • Support yearend accounting process and preparation of corporate tax submission
  • Support internal and external audit processes
  • Record and maintain fixed asset purchases and applicable depreciation and amortization schedules
  • Develop, implement or modify record keeping and accounting systems
  • Ensure adherence to accepted accounting standards (ASPE)
  • Prepare and present financial information to various stakeholders
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with business operations and other divisions


  • Post-secondary education with a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Completion or near completion of a formal accounting designation
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and ASPE
  • Ability to process large volumes of financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
  • Ability to prepare large and complex financial transactions
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with ability to see the big picture
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in Excel and MS Access
  • Experience working with global companies is an asset
  • Possess sound judgment and high attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Capable of following established systems, but not afraid to make suggestions to improve efficiencies
  • Experience with financial and time systems such as Tenrox and Great Plains an asset
  • Ability to professionally and positively interact with people at levels of the organization
