Job Summary: 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Products Manager, the Electro-Mechanical Developer is responsible for design and manufacturing of new products, as well as supporting existing products and cost reduction efforts.  Key responsibilities include:  project scoping, detailed design, testing, transfer to manufacturing, and manufacturing setup and qualification.


  • Electrical and mechanical concepts, detailed design, prototype, and validation to meet the product’s functional, cost, and timeline requirements.
  • Component, assembly, and system level designs including 3D CAD and drawing creation.
  • Mechanical designs include injection-molded plastics, cast and sheet metals, tooling, coatings and paints, seals and elastomers, liquid processing, packaging.
  • Electrical aspects include harnessing, wiring diagrams, component selection, design review of PCBAs.
  • Design for test, test setup, data gathering, and results interpretation during the development process.
  • Troubleshooting and fault analysis of released products where modifications to form/fit/function are required.
  • Development process ownership including documentation of design choices, calculations, outcomes, FMEAs.
  • Create, manage, and complete product changes through the change order process while keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Transfer product changes from development to manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain accurate manufacturing through PDM, bills of materials, work instructions, operator training, production setup and jigs, and first article inspections.
  • Contribute to a culture of ongoing continuous improvement and sustained value for our customers.

Skills and Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in a development environment.
  • Electrical or mechanical technologist diploma or a diploma in a related discipline.
  • Experience with PCBAs, electrical and wiring, and mechanical designs.
  • Problem solving ability and self-motivated.
  • Strong project management and communication skills to drive and coordinate a cross-functional team.
  • Experience with manufacturing techniques, process planning, and lean principles.
  • Thorough design and documentation skills including 3D CAD, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
