Coastal Community Credit Union, the largest credit union based on Vancouver Island, delivers a wide range of innovative financial products and services. Serving approximately 80,000 members and clients, our vibrant and fast-growing organization is seeking to fill the position of IT Security Specialist, within our Information Technology Solutions Department.
Reporting to the AVP, IT Solutions, the IT Security Specialist is involved in the implementation of new security solutions and participates in the creation and or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures. This role is also responsible for conducting vulnerability audits and assessments. The IT Security Specialist is expected to be fully aware of the enterprise’s security goals as established by its stated policies, procedures and guidelines and to actively work towards upholding those goals under the direction of the AVP, Information Services. This role oversees the day-to-day operations and controls of the in-place security solutions while leading in the identification, investigation and resolution of security breaches detected by those systems within given authority. The IT Security Specialist will provide expert technical advice and guidance to IT project stakeholders in order to translate business requirements and advise on IT security requirements. They will also be responsible for providing education and communications informing the business of current security practices and the risks the users and the business are exposed to on an ongoing basis.
The successful candidate must have a university degree or diploma in the field of computer science, information security or related certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
