Job Summary:

We are seeking an IT Operations Manager to lead a talented and growing team. Our ideal candidate will be able to provide a high level of project execution and guide improvements to existing and new processes and procedures. On a day-day basis you will act as a Senior Systems Administrator, lead the IT Operations team and be responsible for our cloud systems. From time to time you will also need to be willing to roll up your sleeves and help the office troubleshoot any technical needs. Whether it’s deploying new servers, negotiating vendor agreements, or motivating your team, you are capable of taking on the daily challenges required to maintain and grow all aspects of our IT Operations Team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities
  • Create product roadmaps and business cases for optimal product delivery
  • Work with the Product Team to determine operational requirements, design considerations, and production impacts for new development efforts
  • Research, design, develop and implement solutions for fault, performance, capacity, and configuration management for applications
  • Identifies production stability concerns via break point and impact analysis. Designs, develops and implements remediation plans to address
  • Management of key vendor relationships, service / support contracts, license true-ups, and associated negotiations
  • Keep the team on task, motivated, and productive
  • Ensure yourself and the team are on top of the newest technology, tools, and approaches and be ready to adopt these at the appropriate time
  • Ensure SLA and designs/architecture needs are met in place to meet needs
  • Work with team to refine and create related policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Set employee objectives, monitor and evaluate performance, and provide feedback and mentoring
  • Ability to provide 24 x 7 support if needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Technical degree at the Bachelor’s level or 3-5 years’ experience leading, developing, and growing a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to research new emerging issues, including regulations, new technology, and industry practice
  • Experience in administering, executing, and leading resolutions for unexpected service outages and system maintenance issues
  • Knowledgeable and experience in developing, implementing, and building infrastructure, which ensures disaster recovery and service continuity
  • Ability and demonstrated talent in avoiding or minimizing business impact despite technical challenges
  • Organizational and problem solving skills and experience
  • Experience building scalable infrastructure for high traffic, high availability websites.
  • Strong operational knowledge of Linux, web services architecture, cloud platforms, open source web technologies
  • Production experience developing, configuring and supporting systems monitoring, alerting and analytics (Nagios, NewRelic, Graphite, Log Stash, Splunk etc.).
  • Production experience developing, configuring and managing configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef or SaltStack
  • Technical depth and experience in one or more of the following: virtualization infrastructure (aws ec2, vmware esx, etc), Linux / Windows systems administration, message queue's such as rabbitmq, automatic provisioning tools such as Chef or a similar IT infrastructure area.
  • Strong familiarity with networking principals, firewalls, load balancers, AD, DB fundamentals, and backup systems
  • Experience with design, implementation and management of highly available (HA) system architectures

Additional Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Software engineering experience
  • Experience with security and compliance; working knowledge of PCI
  • In-depth operations experience with NoSQL technologies, distributed, real-time, column-oriented data stores (such as Druid) and Hadoop
  • Valuable further experience including: databases such as PostgreSQL; productivity tools
