TimberWest Forest Corp. is the largest owner of private forest lands in Western Canada, with 325,000 hectares located on Vancouver Island. The private forest lands have an annual harvest of 1,900,000 m3 and the company also has Tree Farm Licenses that add an additional 700,000 m3 of harvesting activity.

Job Summary: 

The Role

Located in our Nanaimo office and reporting to the Senior Systems Administrator, this role will work with the technical team to support the desktop computing requirements for several office and scaling locations on Vancouver Island. With a proven technology record, a commitment to customer service excellence and a strong work ethic, the successful candidate will work with a diverse range of users. A wide variety of support will be required including the following main areas:

  • Telephony and Mobile Devices
  • Desktop and Peripheral Support
  • Account Management
  • Scaling Station Support
  • Field Technology
  • PC Software support

Occasional travel will be required to provide on-site support at our scaling locations including travel by boat or seaplane to logging operations. The successful candidate would hold a Class 5 driving license and provide their own transportation.

The role will also work closely with the Application Support group to make certain that the corporate business systems operate at high efficiency and availability.

Desired Skills & Experience

General:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a technical support analyst in a diverse environment.
  • Post Secondary education, diplomas or certifications is highly desirable.
  • A proven record of delivering technology initiatives on a timely basis and willingness to provide after hours support when required.
  • Able to prioritize customer service requests according to value, with a high level of responsiveness.
  • Fundamental understanding of Service Request management or ITIL related knowledge.
  • Able to articulate technical issues and ideas to people at all levels of technical understanding.
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Aptitude for logical and analytical thinking, as well as strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be highly self motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience supporting industrial field applications and hardware.

Technical:

TimberWest is a Microsoft Windows based shop.
