Job Summary: 

Procura is looking for a motivated and dynamic Software Development Manager to manage our Procura Product’s development team. This senior role will work closely with the Director of Development and the Developers, Quality Assurance Analysts and Business Analysts of the Procura Development team to ensure excellence in our original product offering.

Reporting to the Director of Development, you will organize and coordinate the development team in Victoria. You will be responsible for:

  • Continuously improving Development team practices and processes, including career development for the team.
  • Planning of sprint management activities and tactical course corrections during sprints
  • (With Product Management) setting strategic direction for the product and ensure that development team has resources to carry it out
  • Management of development staff, including hiring of new staff, performance appraisals and any corrective action for performance problems
  • Budgetary management of development team – ensuring that the team has the tools they need to do their job and that they stay within pre-determined budgets
  • Negotiation of (and commitment to) deliverable dates with customers, both internal and external.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • A background in Project Management that includes some customer contact and a proven ability to negotiate deliverables
  • Technical knowledge of industry best-practices around how to build software
  • Familiarity with Scrum and other agile development practices
  • A solid computer science background, either through post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to tell good code from bad
  • A demonstrated ability to lead teams (even unofficially) that have developed clean software within set budgets.
  • You are legally entitled to work in Victoria, BC, Canada. A copy of a valid work permit may be required
