Company Overview:

Foundry Spatial Ltd. is a Victoria, BC based, global provider of Natural Resource Development services.  We offer a suite of services to discover and map information needs from one streamlined, reliable source.  We're based on the principal that awareness is crucial in managing risks associated with land and resource development.  Much of our recent work has focused on water resources, and this is where we see our future.

Job Summary:

You should have experience in front end web development, including interface and user interaction with javascript / AJAX.  The ability to trouble shoot, think on your feet and develop creative, pragmatic solutions is a requirement.   We use an agile approach to project development so the ability to work well with the rest of the team and iterate is key.  A background in physical geography, earth sciences or environmental studies would be a benefit, as the majority of the information that we work with relates to the natural environment.

Required skills:

  • JavaScript, HTML/CSS, PHP, cross-browser testing and development.
  • UI / UX design and development
  • appreciation for modern visual design

We are a small team, so an interest and ability to pitch in on some of the rest of the technologies that we work with would be great – they include:

  • Webmapping – Leaflet, OpenLayers, TileMill, Mapnik, tilestache
  • Programming languages – SQL (Postgresql / PostGIS), python, Java
  • Webservers – Nginx, gunicorn

Eligible applicants must meet the criteria of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy – Career Focus program as delivered by the National Research Council’s IRAP program:
