TECHNICAL OPERATIONS OFFICER

1 REGULAR, FULL TIME POSITION
HANSARD SERVICES
Salary Range:  $51,809 -$59,355

Under the direction of the Publishing Supervisor, the Technical Operations Officer prepares the official report of the debates of the Legislative Assembly and related proceedings for electronic and print publication. The Technical Operations Officer provides first- and second-tier technical support to Hansard Services through consultation with users to understand, resolve or escalate incidents according to established protocols. The Officer initiates and supports systems-related projects and serves as a Hansard Services webmaster. The Officer also provides technical training and systems documentation and supports technical skills assessments for recruitment initiatives.

Qualifications: Candidates will possess a diploma, certification or equivalent experience in the computer science field. Development experience with HTML, CSS, ASP, Javascript, XML, XSLT, XPath and IDML are required. Candidates will demonstrate experience developing scripts using Javascript and/or VBA. Candidates will have knowledge of desktop and web publishing software, including Dreamweaver and InDesign. Microsoft technician certification or advanced working experience in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, is required. Basic development experience with Java and/or C# and experience using SVN code-versioning systems will be considered assets. Candidates will possess excellent knowledge of English spelling and grammar and excellent communication, interpersonal and team-work skills.

Hours of Work: During House sessions and periods of regular committee activity, the Technical Operations Officer must be able to work a flexible 35-hour work week.
