Our development team builds OpenGeo Suite, an integrated product that includes the GeoServer application server, PostGIS spatial database and OpenLayers web mapping library. OpenGeo Suite is a toolkit for building advanced web mapping applications. It is used around the world by researchers, planners, and others to share and edit data using open standards. The Suite and its components are all 100% open source.

Job Summary: 

Help! We need you to break our software... and then help us fix it. We're looking for an experienced QA Engineer to ensure that we ship software not only serves our customers well but also makes us proud.

Responsibilities will include some or all of the following:

  • Work with developers and project leads to build test plans and execute them
  • Install and configure software products for testing on various platforms
  • Effectively summarize and communicate results of testing to management and team members
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites
  • Participate in the software release process

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree, preferably Computer Science, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3 or more years experience in software quality assurance, software development, software technical support, or a related field
  • Good command of Linux and scripting languages (bash, Python, etc)
  • Familiarity with testing in virtual machines

The ideal candidate is:

  • Passionate about open source software
  • Familiar with JMeter, Selenium or other testing tools
  • Skilled in communicating with a globally distributed team comprising cross functional team members such as product managers, software engineers, and technical support engineers
  • Interested in GIS, geography, maps and cartography
