Job Summary: 

We have a great opportunity for someone with excellent technical and diagnostic skills to join our innovative Engineering Group in the role of Junior QA Test Technologist/Engineer.

Reporting to the QA Senior Test Engineer you will be responsible for the validation and testing of software, firmware, and product features for data loggers, data collection and analysis software, sensors, and telemetry systems for remote outdoor applications. You will work closely with engineering design staff to develop new product offerings and assist in improving our existing products.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Create, enhance, execute, and document both manual and automated functional and full system tests that provide consistent results to be used by non-R&D personnel for testing.
  • Analyze and review design documents, bug descriptions and functional requirements to develop test plans.
  • Assist with the resolution of software problems by trouble-shooting and developing reports of your findings.
  •  Collaborate with project teams to provide detailed tracking of timelines and resource estimates, job costing, and communication of status.
  •  Work proactively as a member of the team to offer suggestions for product, project and departmental improvements.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • Technology Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics or computer science; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent understanding of software testing methodologies with focus on reliability.
  • Ability to learn quickly, and effectively use knowledge in new applications, with the commitment to stay in touch with emerging technologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all tasks and reporting functions.
  • Ability to manage time well and work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in QA/Test Engineering, with an emphasis on embedded systems and the development of test harnesses, preferably working in a product development environment.  New Technology Diploma or Engineering or Computer Science Bachelor’s graduates with suitable personal qualities and interests will be considered.
  • Experience using Issue Tracking Software (i.e. Jira) and Wiki Software (i.e. Confluence).
  • Experience with Microsoft.NET frameworks, LabVIEW or equivalent automated test tools.
