The Natural Resource Sector (NRS) is a key driver of economic activity and employment in the province.  In order to meet the objectives of the BC Jobs Plan and other government priorities, the NRS requires the capability to act as an integrated manager of the province’s natural resources and to make timely, durable natural resource decisions. Through a significant investment in Transformation, the NRS will fundamentally transform the way government services are delivered, the way in which natural resources are managed, and the way in which authorization decisions are made. This will be enabled by integrating technology, harmonizing legislation, streamlining business processes, and supporting workforce transformation.

This IM/IT position within the NRS Transformation Secretariat will be part of a unique team working in collaboration with the NRS Information Management Branch, the Transformation Secretariat team, cross-government agencies and a diverse group of operational and strategic vendors, as well as a wide range of internal and external clients and stakeholders.

In order for applicants to be considered for this position, their resume and must clearly demonstrate that they have the following education and experience:

  • Degree, diploma, or certification in the computer science field. An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years working experience as a Technical Architect in a complex systems environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience with modern Systems and Software Development Lifecycles.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience with Oracle RDBMS including database security.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience with system development using service-oriented architecture (SOA), Java and/or .Net.
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience with spatial data management systems (e.g. Oracle SDO, ESRI SDE).
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience with data modelling tools and techniques (e.g. ERD, UML).
  • A minimum of 3 years working experience with Enterprise Architectural Frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, FEAF, RM-ODP, Zachman).
  • Recent (within 3 years) experience with all aspects of systems development using a System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and modern Software Engineering practices.
  • Recent (within 3 years) experience using project management methodology and IT change management processes (e.g. PMI, ITIL).
  • Experience leading technical projects, project teams, contractors and/or consultants.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience supervising and mentoring staff
