Job Summary: 

.NET Solution Architect/Team Lead - Permanent - Victoria


We are seeking a seasoned hands-on .NET Solution Architect / Team Lead to join us. As a starting point, you will be leading a team of 3 developers (ASP.NET, Database) providing software solution architect and development activities. You will need to be very hands-on with both software design and development using .NET and Oracle.

You will be responsible for the successful operation of the software development team under your leadership.

This is a client-facing, solution architecture focused consultant position. You MUST have excellent communication skills and feel extremely comfortable with client interactions.

  • Provide architecture consultation and guidance, as well as technical presentations to clients
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and supervision of  a team of 3+ developers
  • Involved in all development stages of the software life-cycle including requirement analysis, design, programming, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and support
  • Participate in IT strategy planning activities, including recommending new technologies and leading the development of new IT standards and processes based on industry standards and best practices
  • Play a major role in project planning and estimation activities
  • Design and develop complex .NET components
  • Provide status updates to departmental managers and project managers regularly

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and leadership
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentations skills
  • 8+ years of professional experience with ASP.NET using VB.NET and Oracle or SQL
  • 3+ years of working experience as a solution architect/technical team lead
  • Work experience in Telerik is a MUST
  • Strong experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Experience with Oracle or SQL stored procedures and complex queries
  • Familiarity with meta-data drive database design (50+ tables)
  • Good at troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Excellent ability to assist and mentor junior team members
  • Good experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft Team Foundation Server
  • Excellent working experience with the systems development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse and varied project teams of both technical and business team members
  • Experience with various levels of government (provincial and local), health care, social services and education sectors highly desirable
  • Experience with providing customer services
  • Familiarity with managed IT services management

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Kentico or Salesforce
  • CA SiteMinder/Harvest
  • Microsoft Enterprise Library
  • Internet Information Services

Education and Certifications

  • Post-secondary or equivalent education in computer science is MUST
  • .NET related certification is preferred
  • ITIL certification is preferred
  • MCSD: Application Lifecycle Management SDLC is preferred
