Job Summary: 

Intermediate/Senior Business Analyst - Permanent - Victoria


TP Systems is currently seeking an Intermediate/Senior Business Analyst for a position located in our Victoria office to support our expanding client base. Experience with various levels of government (provincial and local), health care, social services and the education sector would be considered highly desirable. 


  • Gathering and documenting business requirements
  • Conduct business needs assessments, problem definition, data collection, and technology research
  • Conduct stakeholder sessions to identify and document business situations that require a technological solution.
  • Research and develop business cases including analysis of options, risks, financial analysis, cost benefits and support requirements of various proposed solutions
  • Contribute to or author documentation (i.e. business cases, feasibility reports, business requirements, process definitions, use cases, functional requirements)
  • Model and document business processes (i.e. swim-lane, activity, workflow diagrams)
  • Translate business processes into functional specifications
  • Prioritize and manage requirements based on business needs and customer expectations and time restraints
  • For both new systems and enhancements to existing systems, liaise between the IT development group and stakeholders as required during development, quality assurance testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation.
  • UAT support: Ensure that UAT test scripts meet client needs and monitor the UAT process
  • Business improvementand process re-engineering

Competencies and Qualifications:          

  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in business analysis including project scoping, estimating, documentation, stakeholder management, risk assessment, communication planning and implementation.
  • Experience with various levels of government (provincial and local), health care, social services and education sectors highly desirable
  • Adaptable, flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced, diverse organization
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to quickly learn new concepts/processes
  • Knowledge of current information technology and  industry trends
  • Knowledge of project management best practices and methodologies
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with the systems development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Understanding and experience with large scale implementations of enterprise-wide solutions
  • Ability to manage change and assist people when they have to adapt to change.
  • Ability to analyse and anticipate the impact of system changes on work process and procedures
  • Experience providing customer-service support and subject-matter expertise
  • Excellent leadership skills to foster client engagement and team work. Experience as a mentor is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with project teams with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Ability to manage work assignments for members of the BA team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal/conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent facilitation and organizational skills with the proven ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Superior diplomacy, judgment and tact
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment to resolve problems and escalate issues as necessary
  • Ability to develop and deliver business process related training
  • Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio)
  • Post-secondary education or a combination of related education and experience.
