Job Summary: 

Senior Accountant - 6 Month Term

Carmanah is looking for an experienced senior accountant for a 6 month work term.  The role is to backfill and support the Company’s Assistant Controller who will be involved in a variety of special projects. 

Key responsibilities will be to support day-to-day accounting operations, complete various period end processes, and prepare account analysis as needed.  The successful candidate will be highly motivated, technically savvy and have the ability to adapt quickly.  Strong Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge is a must.  Experience in Sage products would be an asset but not necessary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review month end and quarter end working papers.
  • Provide account analysis on an as needed basis.
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of financial reporting systems.
  • Liaise with external consultants and auditors as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of various public company reports.
  • Participate in special projects on an as needed basis.

Skill Requirements

  • An accounting designation is required (CA, CMA, CGA).
  • Minimum of 3+ years of post-designation experience in accounting, financial reporting, and exposure to internal controls/business processes documentation.  
  • Current knowledge of IFRS.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work in a highly demanding environment with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to take ownership of the role and its responsibilities while working within a team environment.
