Job Summary: 

Carmanah is looking for a full time Shipper/Receiver with some facility responsibilities.  If you are looking for a great place to work, with incredibly awesome people...then Carmanah is the place for you!

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technologies & Facilities, the Shipper/Receiver and Facilities Coordinator responsibilities will include administrative and physical tasks involved in shipping, receiving and order fulfillment for all departments of the company.  This position will also perform support duties as delegated by their Manager, including various facility responsibilities. 

The Shipper/Receiver and Facilities Coordinator requires a detail-oriented, flexible and extremely organized individual with strong communication skills.  This position will work with multiple teams at Carmanah with varying expectations and will be strong at multi-tasking and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for handling, packaging, and shipping/receiving of all materials within Carmanah and ensuring it is accomplished efficiently and effectively. These duties include:

  • Work with standard shipping documents and online shipping systems
  • Maintain shipping logs and properly file all paperwork
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of delivery trucks
  • Pack and unpack goods for shipping and receiving
  • Obtain quotes for various departments as needed
  • Inspect all incoming shipments for condition and verify accuracy against purchase orders
  • Distribute received shipments to respective departments within the company
  • Keep shipping/receiving area clean and organized and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Assist with Inventory control procedures
  • Work to continuously improve efficiency processes within the company.
  • Ensure that various material handling equipment are operated in a safe manner.
  • Maintain excellent customer service with both internal and external customers.
  • Perform support duties including various facility responsibilities. 
  • Provide assistance to co-workers in general housekeeping and office maintenance.
  • Ensure building and equipment facilities adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Periodically inspect all facilities and equipment; determine, implement and track preventative maintenance measures needed.

Skills and Qualifications

  • One to two years shipping/receiving/facilities experience.
  • Superior communication and customer service abilities.
  • Capable of taking responsibility with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to process shipping transactions both electronically and via the internet.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Solid relationship building skills with Customers and Carriers.
  • Meet weight lifting requirements of up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Standards and Environmental regulations is desirable.
