Job Summary: 


The Trade Management and Compliance Department provides pooled fund and regulatory compliance monitoring, manages cash flows, trade settlements, and pooled fund openings for the Corporation. In addition, the department is developing an Enterprise Data Management (EDM) function to lead data related initiatives and operations for the corporation.

Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Data Management, the Analyst will play a key role in developing the EDM function at bcIMC.  The Analyst is responsible for ensuring good quality data is available for the corporation’s consumption.

Priorities for the Analyst will include assisting with the implementation of an EDM platform in collaboration with other bcIMC departments and the selected vendor, gathering and refining detailed data requirements from various business units across bcIMC, and the overall execution of operating processes for the department.


To succeed in the Analyst role, the incumbent must possess knowledge of global investment instruments, market data vendors and associated data feeds, and the overall investment lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings a good understanding of capital markets, a wide range of investment issues, and a high degree of comfort with technology and related applications.  This position requires the ability to collaborate extensively with colleagues from varying backgrounds including investments, operations, and technology. Some experience dealing with market data vendors and related contracts would be an asset.

A role in EDM requires a unique combination of technical and business skills. The incumbent should demonstrate experience dealing with large financial data sets and should possess a basic working knowledge of query languages such as SQL. Prior experience with relevant EDM technologies such as Markit EDM, Eagle Pace, or others is also considered an asset.

The level of professional knowledge required to perform the core functions of this position is typically acquired by 2-4 years of direct experience in a similar role within the investment industry subsequent to completion of an applicable university degree and/or relevant professional designation.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.


  1. Effectively contributes to the day-to-day operations of the EDM department through the execution and continuous improvement of data related processes and procedures.
  2. Validates market and internal data sets in accordance with established data quality standards and suggests changes and improvements when necessary.
  3. Works closely with colleagues in Information Technology in configuring and enhancing the overall functionality available within bcIMC’s EDM platform.
  4. Elicits and documents data requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, use case scenarios, business analysis, and workflow analysis.
  5. Actively participates in overall change management initiatives related to bcIMC’s vision of Enterprise Data Management.
  6. Effectively leverages technology and displays a high degree of comfort in the use and configuration of various applications and technologies including but not limited to the EDM Platform and SQL.
  7. Other accountabilities may be defined as the EDM program is matured.
  8. Actively adheres to compliance and risk management policies, and participates in business continuity planning.
