Job Summary: 

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) will be able to coordinate the development, own the schedule, and manage the implementation details for Perforce’s Swarm (code review tool) project. This role requires someone who takes charge, but also accepts and weighs input. The TPM makes decisions and communicates the results. Requisite is the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and possess a keen ability to identify and resolve issues using diplomacy, technical and managerial skills.  One of the key requirements is the ability to understand the Perforce vision and product road map as well as implementation on a deeply technical level. This includes:

  • Reproducing problems and judging the criticality of an issue
  • Investigating and understanding other SCM applications that can then help drive the product direction on a technical level
  • Support our strategic roadmap from a technical perspective including identification of potential-obstacles and solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver software products from conception to release including analysis and technical design.
  • Manage multiple schedules and projects, and delivery of products in a timely manner.
  • Use relevant techniques and diplomatic skills to manage conflicts and escalations.
  • Lead highly skilled cross-functional teams by establishing working relationships with colleagues across multiple departments.
  • Support the development and maintenance of new products, operational tools, and product lifecycle changes (SDLC).
  • Provide consistent and comprehensive status reports, project updates, and ongoing cost analyses, significant issue management and resolution, communication across business lines, often at senior management levels.
  • Implement technical pilots to support the use of the Perforce server.
  • Improve business processes to streamline coordination and releases.
  • Advocate for the success of the products.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • BS in engineering, computer science; MBA or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of technical Product and/or Project management experience. 12+ years overall of professional experience.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), or Agile certification.
  • First hand knowledge of all aspects of the software development process using SDLC, including project methodologies such as agile.
  • Expert with databases and SCM products across multiple platforms.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Effective project management that includes:
    • Solving problems, prioritizing deliverables and managing project scope
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent complex projects to completion on time with minimal supervision
    • Adapting to changing work requirements; identifying and escalating issues
    • Working well independently and within groups
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to foster cross-functional teamwork among departments and external resources.
  • Strong technical skills with an ability to quickly assimilate new ideas and concepts.
  • Experience in building and leading projects, keeping on track and moving without specific authority over resources.
  • Lead daily scrums for multiple projects.
  • Calm and detailed oriented with a sense of humor.
