Job Summary: 

Our client is looking for a Quality Assurance and Test Automation Specialist to fill a role in Victoria BC. The right person will be competent in handling both the broad and detailed set of tasks related to ensuring that software meets quality requirements.  You would be responsible for carrying out performance based testing, build improvements, authoring tools, following and generating test plans, black and white box testing, generating unit tests and providing insight into the user experience.  On top of functional testing, there is a desire to create an automated test framework to ease with steady state product sanity.  We want you to break the software, so users never have to. The position is available to be filled as soon as we find the right person.

Ideal Candidate

To be successful at this position you need (at a minimum) to meet these requirements:

This is a fulltime contract position with long term extension potential.

Responsibilities

  • Establish quality processes that ensure predictable product quality and provide valuable feedback to the development team throughout the development process
  • Develop a robust and comprehensive automation framework that significantly improves product quality and software release times
  • Develop test plans, test cases and test data as part of a comprehensive strategy to improve and maintain product quality
  • Play a key role in our Agile development process planning each sprint and verifying the product before each update
  • Perform in-depth ad-hoc product testing as needed across multiple browsers, platforms and environments as a member of the QA team
  • Build, execute, and debug automated functional and back-end tests
  • Conduct automated testing effort for applications
  • Diagnose problems and report bugs and enhancements
  • Work with infrastructure teams to ensure efficient and stable product builds
  • Work with development and functional QA teams to make decisions surrounding automation needs

Required Skills

  • 3+ years performing automated QA testing in software development environments
  • 3+ years software testing experience of Web applications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline / equivalent work experience
  • Experience automating testing using one or more of the following scripting frameworks: Selenium (preferable), JUnit, Bamboo, TeamCity, Quick Test Professional, WinRunner, SilkTest, LoadRunner
  • Expertise with testing methodologies, tools, automation and approaches including stress, load and performance testing
  • Solid understanding of Agile development process
  • Experience developing test plans, test cases and test data
  • Thorough understanding of core concepts surrounding databases, xml, web services and web applications
  • Strong familiarity with cross browser issues and strategies for cross browser testing across multiple operating systems and platforms is a plus
  • Fanatical attention to detail (we are not kidding!)
