Job Summary: 

AbeBooks.com, an Amazon company, is looking for a data driven Product Manager to join its Sales and Account Management team to drive improvements in Seller Performance. This position is based at our headquarters in Victoria, BC, Canada reporting to the Senior Product Manager, Sales and Account Management. We also have a European office in Dusseldorf, Germany and from these two locations we run seven international web sites: AbeBooks.com, AbeBooks.co.uk, AbeBooks.de, AbeBooks.fr, AbeBooks.it, IberLibro.com and ZVAB.com.

The Product Manager, Seller Compliance and Performance is responsible for improving the buying experience by reducing transaction “defects” – purchases or shopping experiences that are unsatisfactory to our customers due to faults or errors caused by AbeBooks or sellers. You will develop programs and products that set high standards for sellers to meet, enforce those standards through a clear set of metrics and launch scalable and automated processes that reduce defects and result in more satisfied customers.

Key Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Develop and execute on a seller compliance and performance product strategy to drive down transaction defects.
  • Develop a reliable, efficient and actionable set of KPIs in fulfillment and returns, seller feedback and Customer contact rate to measure the success of your products and programs
  • Manage Bookseller Policies to ensure sellers have clear expectations and consequences.
  • Work in conjunction with Account Managers and Customer Support to develop and implement new processes to improve and automate seller performance investigations and management.
  • Drive reductions in seller fraud by improving detection methods and setting up more effective, scalable vetting systems.
  • Partner with Customer Support to reduce seller driven customer support contacts.
  • Collaborate with Amazon where relevant to take advantage of potential synergies

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in Product or Project Management.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • You start with the customer by listening and observing their needs and work backwards from there.
  • You juggle multiple competing priorities simultaneously with ease and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • You are adept at retrieving and analyzing data and are a metrics driven decision maker.
  • You must thrive on solving problems, improving processes and increasing efficiencies through automation
  • Your precise attention to detail and innate desire for excellence is infectious to those around you.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Basic programming knowledge (E.g. Javascript, Python etc)
  • Experience in online risk management
  • Experience in software development, familiar with Agile, Kanban or similar methodologies.
  • Experience in ecommerce
  • Experience in Six Sigma
  • Additional language in one or more of our supported languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish)
