Senior IT Infrastructure Administrator

Provide enterprise systems IT services to support complex business functions

Nanaimo, BC

Looking for a challenge? We need you to join us as a Senior IT Infrastructure Administrator and  lead a team of IT Professionals to ensure the long term sustainability of information services currently housed in data centres and systems in multiple geographic locations.

You will be accountable for leading and coordinating technical sustainment activities for the Catalyst Paper Information Technology Infrastructure, utilizing and maintaining technology to support growing business objectives in a reliable and cost effective way that keeps pace with an ever changing technology landscape.

The key objectives of the Senior Infrastructure Admin include:

  • leading the Infrastructure Team to ensure multiple data centers and systems are sustainable, reliable and cost effectively maintained
  • architecting solutions including VMware clusters, Microsoft servers, storage systems and applications used to support and monitor systems
  • ensuring backup and recovery plus disaster recovery process and procedures are established and maintained
  • implementing and operating network monitoring of systems to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties
  • managing network security, patching, VPN, firewall and related network devices
  • investigating, recommending and installing enhancements and operating procedures that optimize service availability
  • overseeing the management and sustainment of Active Directory and Exchange environments
  • developing and conducting training in support of IT Systems
  • creating and maintaining technical documentation.

Strong communication skills as well and the ability to follow standards and disciplines augment your post-secondary degree or diploma and over 5 years’ experience with:

  • Enterprise systems
  • Microsoft Windows server operating systems (MCITP, MCSA, MCTS an asset)
  • servers and storage system design and implementation
  • VMware Virtualization technologies
  • Microsoft Active Directory Services.
