Job Summary: 

The Role:

JEA is currently looking for a highly motivated, career minded Systems Administrator: Windows/VMware to join our Information Technology team. You will possess senior level technical knowledge with 6+ years of demonstrated experience supporting Windows and VMware infrastructures in a fast paced enterprise environment. In addition to your strong technical background, the successful candidate will exhibit strong interpersonal, time management, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology; the Systems Administrator is responsible for managing the installation, configuration, maintenance, and problem resolution of all hardware, operating system, network and layered software components on the Windows server platform for both physical and virtual systems.  In addition to supporting the Windows Server environment, this position will take an active role in supporting the network and storage infrastructure. You will be an integral member of a dynamic team and assist in the development of new technologies, service offerings and their subsequent support.

  • Maintain, monitor, and support current and new server deployments on both physical and virtual hardware, including databases and SANs
  • Manage Active Directory 
  • Contribute to the support of MS Exchange 2007/2013
  • Support users at multiple remote locations utilizing remote assistant tools
  • Track incidents through to resolution
  • Troubleshooting system and network issues
  • Conducting daily checks 
  • Perform periodic system audits to assure compliance and availability
  • Escalates critical issues to IT Manager in a timely manner
  • Write technical documentation
  • Completes special projects or tasks assigned by IT Manager
  • Participate in on-call rotation 
  • Perform tasks in regular scheduled change window (usually occurs on Sunday)
  • Respond to call outs within agreed time limits

Requirements:

The successful candidates will have extensive experience with:

  • Windows Server 2003/2008/2012; MCSE certification is strongly preferred
  • VMware vSphere 5.5, including configuring and maintaining multi host configurations using shared storage; VMware Certification is strongly preferred
  • Experience administering Citrix Xendesktop 5.5 environment including building master image and deploying desktop, and troubleshooting Xendesktop issue. XenApp knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience managing SAN technologies in conjunction with VMware servers, EMC VNXe 3300 SAN
  • Experience in network administration and troubleshooting down to the protocol level is a must, preferably in an environment that supports multiple client projects in production, test and development stages
  • Working knowledge of administering network switches, exposure to Dell PowerConnect network switches is desirable
  • Working knowledge of administering firewall, exposure to Cisco ASA5500 and Check Point firewall is desirable
  • Experience administering MS-Exchange 2007/2013
  • Experience working with Microsoft  SharePoint services
  • Experience working with Microsoft  IIS
  • A solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, Networking, VPN, DFS, NFS, CIFS, group policy and Active Directory
  • Working knowledge basic scripting, including: VB, PowerShell, WMI, command
  • Working knowledge of RDBMS database basic administration preferably Oracle 
  • Working knowledge of RedHat Linux and or HP-UX is desirable
  • Experience with Backup Exec 2014
  • Experience with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11
  • The ability to troubleshoot effectively and creatively
  • Able to work in a team setting and independently
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desirable:

  • Up-to-date Microsoft certifications
  • Up-to-date VMware certification
  • ITIL
