This position is based in Victoria which is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island.  Victoria (regional population 330,000) is the capital of British Columbia and a community of choice for many, due to our temperate climate, natural beauty and diverse economic opportunities.  Victoria is an international resort destination with a transportation network that includes airport, helicopter and seaplane services, buses, ferry, and cruise ships.

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Manager, Sales and Revenue, this position pursues and implements commercial opportunities that support revenue generation for BC Transit and local transit systems.  You will prepare and present business cases for senior management, executive and stakeholders.  The position is also responsible to identify and evaluate opportunities to strategically align pricing for transit products and systems with the goal to support revenue generation.

Key Accountabilities will include:

  • Identification, evaluation and implementation of commercial revenue opportunities, ventures and programs.
  • Writes and presents business cases that clearly justify the potential opportunity and include revenue and costing forecast and analysis, allocation of required capital and resources, timelines and risks.
  • Identification and implementation of opportunities that strategically aligns pricing for transit systems.
  • Evaluation of current revenue development programs, pricing and products with a view to continuous improvement

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree business, commerce or a related discipline
  • Five year’s related experience preferably within a public sector environment
  • Strong commercial and/or business development background is preferred
  • Formal training and experience in accounting, economics and pricing is required
  • Advanced skills in building, maintain and analysing Microsoft Excel spread sheets, word and database programs
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with all stakeholders to discuss requirements and gather information is required.
  • Strong written communication skills and demonstrated ability to quickly synthesize complex material into a concise report for executive audience
  • Knowledge of BCT corporate strategies, functions and programs would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Knowledge of the relevant policies, procedures and legislation would be an asset.
