Socoloco Inc. is a world class innovation lab which develops online and mobile social commerce applications.  We have created a marketplace platform that has been used for several different web applications.  Our first brand, Diggit.ca, provides local C2C and B2C transactions across Canada. Our other brands are targeted at the charitable and fundraising sectors.  BeGiving.ca accommodates local C2C transactions with proceeds going to charity and GoBid.ca gives fundraisers the ability to raise money through online auctions.

Job Summary: 

Our team is growing and we are looking for a junior web developer to help enhance and develop our marketplace technology.  Working with a strong cross functional agile development team, the ideal candidate should be able to communicate well with others, have a passion for creating quality software, and have experience with a successful software delivery life cycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop web applications in Python and JavaScript (jQuery), and possibly other languages as appropriate
  • Contribute to the design process, being mindful of the user experience
  • Work actively with other developers to design, build, test and maintain the applications in a robust fashion that can be reused and maintained as easily as possible
  • Provide estimations on the difficulty of tasks and features
  • Always being mindful of code quality, and testing your own code

Technical Qualifications:

  • Python experience and knowledge
  • JavaScript(jQuery)/CSS experience and knowledge
  • Experience working with MVC Web frameworks
  • Understanding of HTML5, Ajax

Technical Assets:

  • Django
  • Experience working with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • Experience using version control (Git)
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills
  • Knowledge of Agile development principles and process
  • Continuous Integration
