Job Summary: 
  • GenoLogics is undergoing explosive growth and is looking for a Leader in Talent & Culture to play a significant role in contributing to the development and implementation of innovative HR strategies and programs to differentiate GenoLogics as a destination employer. We’re opening a satellite office in the San Francisco Bay Area and we’re looking for an individual who will deliver strategic leadership across the organization. This position champions HR best practices, partnering with managers to create, enhance, and preserve the “GenoLogics Experience”. In addition, the Leader, Talent & Culture will tackle ongoing and special assignments in the areas of Employee Retention & Relations and Professional Development. This involves work in all areas of HR, with recruitment and retention requiring the most concentrated effort. 

This is not your typical “HR” position. GenoLogics’ approach to managing an organization and people is anything but traditional. A generalist background or education with proven experience in recruitment is required. We’re looking for someone who is smart, confident, and highly capable, but equally important, someone with a great sense of humour, upbeat personality, and boundless energy.  

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Selection 

  • Lead the recruitment and selection process to ensure GenoLogics’ commitment to hiring “only the best” is upheld and produces effective long-term organizational outcomes
  • Partner with hiring managers for role definition, sourcing strategy development, interview planning, candidate assessment, background checking, and final hiring decision making
  • Liaise with potential candidates and play an active role in the interview process 
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies and programs to differentiate GenoLogics as a destination employer to build and maintain the talent pipeline
  • Investigate and implement strategies to reach passive job seekers and new talent pools 
  • Prepare and present offer packages and coordinate new hire arrival 
  • Manage and prepare immigration case filings on behalf of the organization

Employee Retention & Relations

  • Consult with employees and managers to support the development of workplace solutions
  • Develop and implement employee feedback mechanisms and follow-up action plans
  • Monitor emerging trends and employer best practices and take proactive action
  • Identify and promote ideas to recognize and reward employee contributions

New Hire Orientation

  • Facilitate the effective execution of the new hire orientation program at GenoLogics
  • Partner with managers to support the development of occupation specific training plans
  • Ensure new employees are welcomed and have the tools they need to be successful

Total Compensation 

  • Provide guidance and direction to people managers, to ensure that all decisions and actions align with GenoLogics’ agreed upon compensation philosophy
  • Manage GenoLogics’ annual compensation review process, with personal responsibility for management and executive compensation

Departmental Operations

  • Champion GenoLogics’ vision and core values through role modeling and stewardship
  • Build and maintain a strong network of industry and professional associations, academic institutions, key business contacts, etc. for knowledge and resource sharing

Professional Development 

  • Conduct training needs analysis, develop learning objectives, determine program design and delivery methods, research and select training providers, and measure learning outcomes
  • Oversee leadership development, working closely with program facilitators and participants

Benefits and Payroll Administration

  • Assist the Accounting Department in processing Payroll and ensure accuracy
  • Administer the GenoLogics Benefits Program and lead the annual benefits renewal

Requirements

Required

  • Strong leadership skills, ability to effectively manage meetings and project teams
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively and confidently present information to different audiences in written and verbal form 
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, a team player with an ability to build trusting relationships throughout the organization
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a style that promotes collaboration, consensus and innovation 
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, demanding start-up environment
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a flat, collaborative team-based environment where openness and transparency applies to action and information 
  • Strong dedication and commitment to personal excellence and HR best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues
  • Minimum 3 years progressive private sector Human Resources experience 
  • Proven expertise in knowledge worker (ideally high-tech) recruitment and selection 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business (with HR specialization or additional HR education either completed or in progress) or related discipline

Desirable

  • High-tech industry experience, ideally software development
  • Knowledge and understanding of the life sciences, biotech and/or pharma industries
  • CHRP Designation either completed or in progress
