Job Summary: 

Avocette is currently searching for a Junior/Intermediate Business Analyst to join our growing team. This is an amazing permanent position working out of our office located in Downtown Victoria.

Under the direction of the Manager (Application Management Services), the BA/SME will evaluate IT applications, business functions, processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement, and work closely with programmers and developers to design and integrate computer-based maintenance or development solutions to meet the business needs of the client and stakeholders.

BA Skillset:

  • Role of liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information system
  • Participate in client requirement gathering and analysis meetings
  • Provide input regarding estimations for Enhancement Requests and Project Service Requests
  • Prepare documentation for Enhancement Requests and Project Change Requests
  • Coordinate with development resources through development life-cycle
  • Manage budgeted hours and timelines related to Enhancement Requests, Change Requests, and new Projects
  • Provide updates/reports on application status, issues, and support hour consumption.
  • Prepare and organize documentation
  • Support the creation and validation of functional and integration test cases
  • Assist with planning and coordinating UAT testing

SME Skillset:

  • Provide top level application support
  • Request management and coordination of application support issues
  • Manage budgeted hours and timelines related to application management service requests
  • Prepare documentation for  Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing
  • Assist QA and end-users with verifying application functionality; and that application functionality adheres to requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • A high-level understanding of application programming, database and system design, and Internet applications.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, ability to distinguish symptoms from problems and recommend sound and timely resolutions. Ability to learn and understand business processes, and manage multiple business priorities.
  • Ability to adapt to different working styles (within the team and with a client)
  • Experience with information technology projects and information system planning.
  • Ability to self-manage time and to meet deadlines.
  • Must be an excellent communicator with the ability identify, understand, articulate and document user needs
  • Experience providing customer service
  • Knowledge of project management techniques an asset
  • Working knowledge of the MS Office Suite – Word, Excel and Visio

Education

  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training.
