About the Opportunity

BC Assessment has a unique and exciting opening for a Manager, Corporate Project Management Office & Governance to join its team in Victoria, British Columbia.

As our new Manager, CPMO & Governance, you will manage BC Assessment's Corporate Project Management Office (CPMO), which includes the overall portfolio, program and project management governance frameworks, policies, processes and standards.

The CPMO manages the development, implementation and evaluation of a wide range of projects with multiple key deliverables. Projects are taken from original concept through to final completion, and this important role will manage and develop the enterprise-wide portfolio governance framework.

You will ensure the successful management of the CPMO by developing, implementing and managing effective processes to support the successful delivery of projects in the Corporate Business Plan. This includes ensuring that the application of portfolio governance processes such as gating, quality control, status tracking and reporting are adhered to.

As leader at BC Assessment, you will work closely with Divisional Managers and Project Managers throughout the organization to manage large scale strategic projects. You will also work closely with Senior Leaders and Managers to ensure an effective and coordinated delivery of portfolio and project management systems, practices, processes and training.

In the first year, you can look forward to:

  • Continuing to build the CPMO function within BC Assessment as we move up the maturing level scale;
  • Continuing the normalization of CPMO principles and actions in alignment with the Corporate Culture;
  • Working on the refinement of Project Governance processes within BC Assessment.

Education

  • A university degree in business or information management/technology
  • Must be Project Management Professional certified (or equivalent, such as Prince2)
  • Portfolio/program management certification or change management certification is preferred

Experience

  • Managing multiple enterprise-wide projects
  • Managing relationships with senior level stakeholders and leading consultation sessions
  • Directing the work of other Project Managers, professional employees and/or consultants
  • Leading portfolio/program management process design and implementation
  • Conducting budget management, procurement and conflict resolution
  • Managing enterprise-wide business process architecture and re-engineering

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
