Job Summary: 

Ping DSP Inc. is seeking an Electronics Manufacturing Technologist for a 3 month contract to help us make the transition from from research and development into production of a new 3D imaging and mapping sonar system.  The successful candidate will be a skilled electronics technologist as well as being efficient, and well organized with a strong sense of pride in his/her workmanship.   Both experienced Technologists and new or recent graduates are encouraged to apply.  The position will involve a wide range of electronics manufacturing duties and may evolve into a longer term position.    


  • Manage BOM’s and assist in procuring pcb’s, parts and other sub-assemblies.
  • Hand solder simple SMT pcb’s and make minor SMT pcb modifications or repairs whenever necessary.
  • Inspect and test a variety of incoming pcb’s from outside assembly shops.
  • Assemble a variety of wiring harnesses.
  • Build and test sub-assemblies composed of multiple pcb’s.
  • Develop or improve test fixtures and software for testing sub-assemblies as required.
  • Update and/or create documentation such as BOM’s, assembly procedures, test procedures.
  • Suggest and document design improvements to simplify manufacturing and increase reliability.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Electronics Technologist degree from an accredited 2 year program (preferred but not absolutely required).
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in soldering techniques and with hot air tools for both SMT assembly and rework.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilliscopes, signal generators, impedance analyzers.
  • Excellent organizational skills with competency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Meticulous care and pride in workmanship.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communications and reporting skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
