Job Summary: 

The VP of Business Development reports to the CEO/President.

The VP of Business Development oversees all aspects of Sales for StarFish Medical. In addition to maintaining opportunities in the funnel, this will involve seeking, researching and creating new relationships with potential clients through a direct sales model. Significant travel will be required, occasionally on weekends. You may be required to attend trade shows, and possibly speak on behalf of StarFish. As a key member of the Senior Management team this role is integral to the success of StarFish.


  • Identify, research, and contact new prospective clients and other useful industry relationships.
  • Ultimately responsible for the StarFish proposals that are written and for ensuring that proper follow up is undertaken. Some of these proposals you will write yourself and others will be written by others involved in the sales process.
  • After the sale you will be an ongoing client liaison with our clients as required.
  • Responsible for sales training for StarFish and ViVitro staff.
  • Maintain the CRM including call summaries and keeping status of opportunities current.
  • Increase sales and to maintain a steady flow of appropriate business.
  • Create weekly, monthly and quarterly reports based on your department activities in standard StarFish formats.
  • Develop StarFish profile and visibility in target cities through networking.

As a member of the management team your role will involve participating in strategy and decision making for the company as a whole. We also have an annual planning process which you will participate in.

You will not be responsible for marketing but will have the opportunity to participate in marketing discussions.


  • 10+ years in Business Development in the medical device industry
  • 5+ years’ of management experience.
  • University Degree (Engineering, Science, Industrial Design, etc.)
  • Sales personality
