ASL Environmental Sciences is a world class company with more than 38 years of experience in oceanographic, acoustic, remote sensing and ice research services. The staff of about 50 comprises oceanographers, engineers, scientists and support staff. We provide clients with scientific consulting services including: Flow Measurement, Numerical Modeling, Wave Measurement & Analysis, Remote Sensing, Sediment Transport and Ice Studies. ASL’s Product Division manufactures a series of instruments that use underwater acoustics to measure physical properties of the ocean, such as sea-ice thickness, waves and suspended sediment as well as biological properties including zooplankton and fish.
The oceanographic group in ASL’s Consulting Services Division requires a technician to maintain, mobilize/demobilize, modify and perform limited repairs on ASL’s extensive pool of oceanographic equipment. Instruments include Acoustic Doppler Current Meters, Ice Profiling Sonars, CTD’s, Acoustic Releases, Water Quality loggers, and other mooring related gear. These instruments are used for both internal projects and leases to other environmental companies.
This role requires a person who is mature, very experienced and enjoys working with complex electronic and mechanical devices. The ideal candidate is comfortable with multitasking and juggling priorities in a very dynamic environment. He/she is organized, has strong attention to detail, good record-keeping skills and is able to meet very tight deadlines with little supervision.
