FLIR 360 Surveillance manufactures a command and control software platform called Cameleon, with several versions supporting security and transportation applications. Cameleon is typically installed in large facilities such as military bases, border patrol, airports, seaports, petrochemical plants, power generation facilities, and a large number of city and state departments of transportation. 360 Surveillance was locally founded in Victoria in 1998 and is now part of FLIR Systems (NASDAQ: FLIR) expanding our reach to the global marketplace. FLIR 360 Surveillance is currently seeking candidates for several open positions at our Victoria, BC office. 

Job Summary: 

We are specifically seeking  junior project engineers and/or test/support engineer as described below.  Many of the desired qualifications are common to both positions so applicants may have an opportunity to pursue either role.  Successful candidates will be generally outgoing, customer focused, and enjoy playing a key role in delivering quality software which meets the needs of the end users.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.  New graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent technical skills in the areas of networking and software/hardware system integration
  • Strong analytical, trouble shooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and interfaces
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with an exceptional ability to solve problems under pressure
  • Ability to be a team player with internal and external members
  • Work effectively in a dynamic team environment where priorities shift frequently
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing demands from multiple stake holders
  • Proactive, and self-driven

Junior Project Engineer 

The project engineering role will report directly to the senior project manager and will be responsible for helping deliver integrated software projects from design to system acceptance.  Project engineers will work closely with development, QA, and support teams to ensure that customer expectations are met and project deliverables are on time and within budget.  The role requires travel within North America and internationally for software commissioning, trade shows, and demonstrations.

Successful candidates will be generally outgoing, customer focused, and enjoy playing a key role in delivering quality software which meets the needs of the end users.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • System design and assistance with proposals
  • On-site system commissioning
  • Facilitate project communication, reporting goal status to key stakeholders
  • Design functional specifications and coordinate software release plans
  • Design training materials and provide training classes
  • Quality assurance related to project deliverables
  • Work closely with customers to manage post installation support
  • Support for industry trade shows and demos
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the United States and internationally

Test/Support Engineer

This role will be part of our test/support team. The test/support engineer plays a central role in the software development lifecycle by bridging the gap between software developers and the end user. Initial responsibilities will revolve around software testing and validation. As experience with the product increases, responsibilities may expand to include customer support.
