Job Summary: 

Perforce is looking for a senior-level Support Engineer to deliver technical assistance to Perforce customers through phone calls, email, chat, and other channels from our office located in Victoria, BC. Qualified candidates will understand software development, have great customer service skills, and have working experience with Python or other scripting languages. As a member of our highly regarded technical support team, you will be responsible for supporting and testing products for software, games, finance, and other markets. Candidates must have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, excellent communication skills, and enthusiasm for providing world-class technical support to software developers, system administrators, and release managers.

Of particular interest to us

  • Hands on experience with Python or Ruby
  • Hands on experience with Perforce and/or Git
  • Experience with software development, systems administration, or software technical support

Responsibilities

Support our Customers and Prospects

  • Resolve customers' technical issues with the Perforce software including installation, usage, and product issues
  • Record customer interactions in the issue tracking systems
  • Troubleshoot issues using the knowledge base system and independent investigation and testing
  • Communicate with other departments within the company as appropriate to resolve customer issues
  • Take issues to resolution while maintaining communication with the customer.
  • Maintain excellent customer service ratings
  • Contribute to the technical knowledge base

Contribute to Product and Process Improvements

  • Review technical documentation and release notes
  • Assess customer bug and enhancement requests and assist in prioritizing
  • Utilize and write scripting tools to contribute to internal tools
  • Develop product expertise and train others in designated Perforce products

Job requirements

  • BA/BS degree or 5+ years of software development and/or technical support experience
  • Knowledge of multiple operating systems (Mac, Linux, Windows), TCP/IP networking, client/server applications, and version control software
  • Experience with software development environments and life-cycles
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, research solutions, and complete projects independently
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
  • Talent for solving problems and enthusiasm for providing world-class phone, email, and chat support to our customers
  • Previous work with Python, Ruby, Perl, Javascript or Bash shell 

Preferred

  • Software development experience or systems administration experience
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Perl, Ruby and/or Javascript
  • Knowledge of version control best practices
