HP Advanced Solutions, Application Management Services department is responsible for planning, developing and maintaining the business systems for the Revenue Programs Division and other branches of the Ministry of Finance. Application Management Services (AMS) provides service for all Revenue Programs Division business applications; many considered mission critical government applications; used by ~1,000 ministry use

DESCRIPTION

The Developer has experience with, and intermediate knowledge of, 3 or more applications or technologies and, preferably, with hands-on experience in many of the applications and technologies listed below in “Knowledge, Skills and Abilities”.

They work with limited direction, yet collaborate and share information freely. They suggest ways that applications can be improved.  The Developer is approached by, and proactively engages with, other team members for guidance and support. They can handle multiple tasks at once and can complete work within assigned timeframes. The Developer will be assigned development tasks ranging from simple to complex maintenance or project activities. They readily work with other areas of HPAS, or with clients, as appropriate.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/DELIVERABLES

1. Application Technical Support - Application Technical Support provides support for the maintenance and problem resolution of the system. Responsibilities of Application Technical Support include:

  • Provide consulting to Application Operator/Administrative Support and Application Client Support in problem solving and verification;
  • Determine the source and impact of problems;
  • Estimate the effort required to solve the problem;
  • Locate and modify the appropriate components;
  • Researching and resolving application production problems;
  • Designing, coding, testing, and implementing modifications to applications in a production support mode;
  • Mentor junior developers; and
  • Be available for on-call support when necessary.

2. Document Specialist - This agent assists with the editing, formalizing, publishing, and maintaining all documentation deliverables for the project.
3. Estimator - This agent uses the Advanced Solutions estimating process to develop reliable estimates of size, effort, staff, cost, and duration for a business opportunity.
4. Modeler - This agent uses modeling techniques to develop models that define business requirements or specify system design.
5.Test Analyst - This agent is responsible for testing activities, including:

  • Assessing specific test tasks and deliverables received from Test Delivery Manager;
  • Ensuring timely completion of testing activities, following testing standards;
  • Ensuring creation of valid and complete Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Data; and
  • Assisting in test automation activities and other specialized testing functions, such as performance testing.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education and Experience

  • Degree in a related field (e.g. computing science, business) and two years of related experience; or
  • Diploma in a related field (e.g. computing science, business) and three years or related experience; or
  • Certificate in a related field (e.g. computing science, business) or program completion, or some course work, and four years of related experience; or
  • Seven years of related experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Intermediate level working knowledge in 3 or more, with hands-on experience in several of the following:
  • Oracle SQL &  DDL (Data Definition Language)
  • Oracle PL/SQL
  • Oracle APEX
  • MS SQL

  • Visual Studio.Net (Asp.Net / C#) 
  • Delphi

  • Windows workstation configuration and troubleshooting in supporting custom-built client applications
  • Ability to use a variety of diagnostic tools for troubleshooting application performance and/or functional issues
