The Senior Programmer Analyst is responsible for planning, conducting and supervising complex information systems assignments designed to keep applications operational, current and reflecting the corporation’s business needs. The Senior Programmer Analyst performs the analysis, design and programming of a diverse range of strategic information technology projects of a critical financial nature. Reporting to a Team Lead of Applications Systems, the Senior Programmer Analyst works with business analysts and end-users and has considerable latitude for un-reviewed action relating to the design, enhancement and maintenance of business applications.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The Senior Programmer Analyst should have academic qualifications in Computer Science with a minimum of four years related programming experience. Demonstrated expertise required in: the use of advanced programming tools and techniques; a thorough understanding of systems’ lifecycles; structured analysis and design; and project leadership experience. To be successful in this position, the Senior Programmer Analyst must possess strong analytical problem-solving skills; an ability to participate effectively in a team environment; good communication and customer service skills. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated capabilities working with development tools VB.Net, Visual Studio, SQL Server, Crystal Reports, PERL and PYTHON. Preference is also given to those who have successfully completed the Canadian Securities Course or who have experience with complex financial systems.
