Job Summary:

At KANO/APPS, our goal is to create live and vibrant communities around fun and engaging social games. To reach our goal, we need to be able to understand what our players want, and to make sure that our products and games deliver that experience. We learn a lot about our players through human interaction, but also try to understand them better through their behavior with our products. We gain that knowledge through data mining, analysis, and machine learning.

We are looking for a Data Scientist, with experience solving large scale data problems in new and uncharted territory. You will work closely with our game teams to create user behavior and predictive models to help us better understand our players and improve their experiences.

Your job will be to “measure fun” and find ways to improve it!

To do so is easier said than done. We need someone who is committed, highly meticulous, creative and passionate enough to pursue only the very best work possible. We not only need an individual who can analyze data, but can also turn the results of that analysis into actions that can be implemented to improve our experiences. You must be outcome oriented, a relentless problem solver and unafraid of failing one hundred times to find a single success.

Responsibilities

  • Work with game teams to provide insights into how our players are playing the games. Report results directly to product owners of games and CEO.

  • Conduct predictive analytics to forecast how players will behave in reaction to changes within game
  • Define and report on KPI’s of products
  • Develop algorithms and predictive models to solve critical problems and validate models to ensure proper behavior
  • Prototype new ways to visualize and understand data relationships
  • Create effective dashboards that take complex data and expose it to stakeholders in a simplified format that they can use to quickly assess issues and where to target change
  • Uncover consumer insights that inform targeting and segmentation
  • Operate tools and systems that facilitate data-driven decision making
  • Coordinate automation of tracking and reporting in cooperation with our developers
  • Design and analyze the performance of experiments
  • Balance and tune game economies

Requirements

  • Inexhaustible desire to solve problems and learn
  • BS in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Electrical Engineering) preferred
  • 2+ years experience as a data scientist or analyst
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel and SQL.
