The Position

Latitude is looking for a proven information systems professional to oversee and ensure the quality of our IS/IT service delivery. You will be leading a small team of IS Analysts and help desk staff and be providing your expertise across a wide range of domains. The ability to manage projects from concept to completion will be critical for success in this role. You will be working in both a hands-on and high-level capacity and you will need to feel comfortable switching between the two regularly and without notice.

This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced team lead or someone who is ready to take the next step in his or her career. The role provides an excellent balance of long-term strategic projects coupled with diverse and challenging issues that arise during day-to-day operations.

The Team

Latitude’s Information Systems (IS) team is responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of all hardware, software, network, telephony, and audio/visual systems within Latitude. We support approximately 90 staff at our main office in Victoria as well as remote staff in various locations in North America and Europe. The IS team also supports the hosting infrastructure for various customer applications, including servers located at a nearby data center and in the cloud.  The IS team also oversees the implementation of and integration between various line of business systems.


  • Act as the lead for a small team of IS Analysts and help desk staff
  • Oversee IS/IT service delivery across the organization
  • Administration and maintenance of our hosting infrastructure including hosted web-mapping applications
  • Administration of various types of servers and systems including:
    • Server Virtualization
    • Database Administration
    • Web Server Administration
    • Active Directory
    • Private and Public cloud infrastructures
  • Network hardware configuration (Firewalls, Routers, Switches)
  • Administration of our product demonstration servers
  • Provide third-level support to Latitude Geographics’ staff
  • Project management of individual or group projects to implement new systems or upgrade/replace aging systems
  • Provide regular reports to management and track metrics around application performance, reliability, expenditure, and resource allocations across our systems
  • Depending on your skills, interests, and the needs of the company, additional responsibilities could be assigned from any area of IT

Requirements and Experience

  • Strong project management skills, experience, or related certifications
  • Ability to perform hands-on work in an IT/Systems role as well as step back and look at the 10,000 foot view, contributing to the development and delivery of strategic goals
  • A track record of success in IT/IS roles with proven leadership abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of web servers, web applications and associated technologies
  • A demonstrated ability to successfully deliver on self-directed IS/IT projects
  • Familiarity with database management systems, especially Microsoft SQL Server
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity and/or competency with software development procedures and practices
  • Some web application development experience and familiarity with Esri’s ArcGIS Server platform would be additional assets
