The Ministry of Justice provides leadership to the justice sector and delivers justice services. As a branch within the Ministry of Justice, Court Services employs 1,300 staff to deliver programs and services in person, by telephone, via video and the Internet at 43 permanent court locations and 46 circuit court locations.

The Service Reform team provides expertise and leadership to Executive Directors, court managers, sheriffs, operational staff, other branches of the ministry, and the Judiciary in the areas of criminal justice reform, civil and family justice reform, court services transformation, service delivery transformation, continuous improvement, training, issues management, communications and business planning.

Job Summary: 

The Business Planning and Policy Analyst provides senior level advice on issues of operational significance to the Branch.  This includes providing practice leadership and expertise on service design and user experience design. As the lead on project teams, typically consisting of section heads and subject specialists, the position manages projects related to both the development and implementation of reforms to the justice system.

In order for applicants to be considered for this position, their resume must clearly demonstrate that they have the following education and experience:

Completion of a related University degree and a minimum of three years, recent and progressively responsible related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, i.e. a related diploma plus four years related experience. Related degree / diploma includes the following disciplines: arts, social sciences, humanities, Library and Information Science (MLIS), user experience design, human computer interaction design (HCI) or a related design field.

Related progressive experience must include: 

  • Experience conducting research and analysis for policy and/or program development. 
  • Experience in planning, coordinating and management that includes preparing for and carrying out   projects and/or program implementation related to sensitive and diverse issues. 
  • Experience working with executives (such as government officials) and senior level professionals. 
  • Experience leading a team. 
  • Experience applying user design methodology. 
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience applying user experience design methodology to plan, build and shape service design initiatives. 
How To Apply: 

Salary $58,915.64 to $67,319.53 annually

There is only one position available, located in either Victoria or Vancouver, depending on the location of the successful applicant.
