Reporting to the Account Delivery Executive this role is responsible for the operation of the Application Managed Services area as an assigned functional delivery tower. The functional structure enforces a clear chain-of-contract accountability with the managing director acting as the primary decision lead for the overall delivery. This functional leadership role is to deliver a process or service to our clients aligned to the contract deliverables. This role does not manage Divisional leadership. The Divisional leaders manage of capacity, resources, setting goals, defining role specific scope, setting deadlines, and tracking individual staff progress with in their respective specialized skillsets.

Responsible for identifying and leading the execution of major operational and strategic initiatives to drive Application Managed Services, this position will engage constructively and cross functionally with all members of the divisional leadership team and HPAS Corporation.

The managing director will own the relationship with our assigned contractors and ensure that the subcontractors operate to our high standards by continuously monitoring performance.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Optimize the functional business processes used to deliver application managed services to our clients;
  • Improvement of the overall operational documentation, processes and policies that support (management reporting, information flow, business processes, organizational planning and follow through);
  • Being the primary contact for suppliers regarding program implementation, contract negotiations and strategic sourcing;
  • Act as major project sponsor for internal projects in the AMS area and represents operations on committees, task forces as required; Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives; Review and sign off projects and change requests for alignment with long-term operational strategy; Ensuring the work of the AMS delivery area is in line with budget and contracts;
  • Managing Director will formally manage any operating expenditures and corporate flash forecasting; Acting as the lead in strategic plans and works closely with the Executive and Clients;
  • Own and manage the annual internal business plan and monitor progress to ensure that the strategic objectives are met as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible;
  • With the Account Delivery Executive prepare and monitor the implementation of the annual budget and projects to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimised;
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Account and Account Delivery Executives and the members of the leadership teams, to keep them aware of developments within the delivery tower and to ensure that the appropriate governance is developed to meet the objectives and to comply with all relevant contract needs;
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships and coordinate the efforts of various leveraged departments to ensure that the company is providing the appropriate range and quality of services to the delivery needs of their respective area;
  • Provides program level oversight and manage cross-departmental dependencies;
  • Drives lean operations, processes and technologies to improve quality, delivery, and reduce costs;
  • Work with Client Service and Contract Management in representing the delivery org in managing the terms and conditions in the contracts and ensuring compliance as well as documenting and agreeing on any changes or amendments that may arise during its implementation or execution via DR;
  • Control costs, drive service excellence and mitigate risks to gain increased value from our vendors and contractors with in their respective area;
  • Work closely with ADE, AE and Finance/Accounting teams on items including accounting treatments, accruals, and actuals against budget and flash;
  • Support the business continuity program by developing, managing and overseeing the execution of local emergency procedures and communications acting as the area lead;
  • Promote the coordination of the delivery towers incident response procedures including training and testing;
  • Coordinating work plans and activities with multiple parties to achieve successful projects in the delivery tower;
  • Assesses corporate initiatives for impact on divisions;
  • Removes obstacles for the divisional leadership teams or directs obstacles to appropriate owners for quick resolution;
  • Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution;
  • Risk assessment, which involves analyzing risks as well as identifying, describing, and estimating the impact to the AMS business line; Manages all external audit engagements that could involve HPAS form one of our clients; and
  • Work closely with internal audit, compliance, and other key control functions for integrated control reviews.

People Management:

  • Complete the performance management process by the established due dates for any staff assigned to you;
  • Performs scheduled reviews of assigned personnel. Documents corrective action if needed;
  • Organizes and leads team meetings; and
  • Empowering staff to take initiative use sound judgment and make quality decisions through employee growth and development. Sub-Contractor Management:
  • Manage standards, policies and processes regarding data management in relation to HP standards;
  • Oversee scheduling to ensure contractor staffing levels are correct per the forecasted budget and are not exceeded without permission; and
  • Monitors delivery of contractors to meet all internal Service Levels and contractual requirements within assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring required delivery corrections are made where needed.

Sub-Contractor Management:

  • Manage standards, policies and processes regarding data management in relation to HP standards;
  • Oversee scheduling to ensure contractor staffing levels are correct per the forecasted budget and are not exceeded without permission; and
  • Monitors delivery of contractors to meet all internal Service Levels and contractual requirements within assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring required delivery corrections are made where needed.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 8 years related experience required; 
  • Related experience includes the following:
    • 8 years of IT operations and management experience, including project management, managing delivery organizations and/or offerings in support of clients.
    • Experience developing and implementing complex vendor contracts and management strategies
    • Experience developing key performance metrics and service level agreements;
  • Lean Six Sigma Experience considered an asset;
  • Proficient personal computer skills including Microsoft Office and analytical software; and
  • Project management and strong organizational skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of corporate strategic planning and development;
  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all applicable Federal, Provincial, and Territorial laws and regulations relating to job duties;
